Named after the date of its creation, 1st April, 1961, our 1461 shoe has become iconic. Originally sold as a durable working man’s shoe, in the 70s and 80s the style became popular with political protesters, and as a fashion item at universities across Britain. Today it’s worn as a statement of self-expression by trendsetters from all walks of life. Crafted from a premium Quilon leather, the 1461 features a 3-eye lace fastening and is finished with ultra-comfortable and durable AirWair sole. The shoe is designed to be completely true to the original version and features vintage construction techniques.
History of Dr. Martens shoes starts more than 100 years ago , but the first true iconic boot emerged in 1960. A distinctive yellow welt stitch, a two tone grooved sole edge and a unique sole pattern were nothing else, but well known 1460 boot. Launched as a functional work-boot in a short amount of time it became a fashion and cultural statement, symbol of rebellion and social revolution.
